A little something on hygiene and cat toilets...
A cat toilet and litter, besides food and water, are the most important things you need to care for your cat.
Cats that lived wild used soft soil and sand to cover their excrement to hide their odors for other cats and predators. It's a strong instinct and kittens are easy to clean.
Cats are - generally - very clean animals, so the litter box must also be clean and accessible.
Show the kitten the litter box as soon as it comes home so that it knows where to look.
Whether you want an open cat litter, closed or closed with a door is a matter of taste - the kittens are used to all 3 models.
I would recommend Catit Jumbo cat toilet (approx. 250 kr) It is solid, spacious, high edge, so the gravel stays in the box, and it can be emptied without taking the whole top off.
Buy a dirt mat in Harald Nyborg or similar to lay in front of the toilet - it takes the gravel that may hang by paws and fur.
Cat litter varies greatly in quality. Buying a good quality may well pay off, as it is much easier to keep the tray clean and odorless.
I use lumpy cat litter and would recommend 2 brands.
One is Everclean - there are many different kinds, rough and fine, with and without fragrance - the fragrance is activated first when the paws enter the gravel
I have tried most, and think best about coarse-grained Less Trail - I buy in Petworld when there are discounts. There are always offers of 3, so you can mix and try a little differently.
Petworld also has VAT-free weekends on occassions - in the shops as well as online.
The second brand is labeled Classic. The properties are pretty much the same on the two brands. Classic is a bit cheaper, but is in plastic bags (slightly unwieldy), where Everclean is in cardboard boxes.
A layer of 10-12 cm must be filled in the litter box for a start, and be filled as needed - remember to buy "dog bags" and possibly. disposable latex gloves. Then it is with a glove - mess around in the sand, gather lumps in the dog bag - stop taking the glove off and down the bag and tie the knot. It runs in ordinary combustible household waste.
Clean the toilet twice a day - that will keep the gravel on the ground for several months.
